What was going thru Mr. Cheney's mind that day?
He says that Auschwitz "reminds us that evil is real and must be called by its name and must be confronted".
What was going through Mr. Cheney's mind, I wonder, later, when he stood in front of the memorial and lit the candle to remember the victims of the Holocaust? Did he wonder if what we are doing to the Iraqis might be something akin to what the Germans did to the Jews? Did he watch the struggling flame and feel the flicker of a doubt somewhere deep inside? Did he reason with himself saying that what we do to Iraqis is justified by something? That we have reasons for what we do? Perhaps he thinks we were forced into it. September 11th left no other choice. And did the Germans not think that they had reasons? That they were forced into it by something?
