It just goes to show that you can be as smart as [an EPA] scientist and still lack basic common sense. The Environmental Protection Agency has just extended radiation exposure standards for folks living near Yucca Mountain Nevada, site of the government's planned long term nuclear waste storage facility. The new limits say the facility has to be safe for A MILLION YEARS, not the 10,000 originally planned. "The proposed rules also require the facility to be able to withstand earthquakes, volcanoes and increased rainfall for the 1 million-year period." Tell me they actually said that with a straight face! What kind of species is arrogant enough to not only assume we're still gonna be around in a million years but also start planning for what's going to happen after the next ice age??? Stupid humans.
