Anniversary.
By the way, I almost missed it, but yesterday was an important anniversary. (I thought it was today) On February 13, 1991 during the first Gulf War a shelter housing 400 civilians was bombed. Was it an accident? I'd like to think so, but there were no military targets in the area and the coaliton had the coordinates of the shelter and the knowledge that it was a bomb shelter for civilians. Afterwards NATO said it had been a mistake. It was hit by two of those "bunker busting" bombs we heard so much talk about back then. Here's a report by journalist who visited the memorial site that stands where the Amiriya shelter once stood.

Pretty hard to stomach. I'd like to think that something like a bunker buster requires a pretty high standard of care when using. On an unrelated note, your post reminded me that I enlisted in the Army on February 15, 1991. Yeehaw.
