Carnival of the Liberals
In my new and ongoing pursuit of carnivaling bloggers I submitted something to the Carnival of the Liberals this time, which, is now up at Slant Truth. Go check it out.
Now, unlike most carnivals, this carnival doesn't publish everything everyone submits; the carnival host just picks their favorites. (And in the spirit of full disclosure, they picked mine). This process is both good and bad. I'm always one to rant about elitism and exclusivity and hearing those voices that aren't normally heard but in this case I have to admit, the quality of the posts included does make for a really satisfying carnival. They are really well-written, thought-provoking pieces. As a result, it's taken me longer to go through and carefully read and comment on and sometimes even post about each discussion thread that all these great bloggers featured in the carnival have brought to the table. So maybe in this case, exclusivity is a good thing.
But it's easy to justify exclusivity when you're one of the ones who got picked. I mean, this little carnival is not such a big deal (I'm getting a lot more incoming hits right now from a Florida politics blog that linked here) but still, it's the principle of the thing. I don't know. Anyone been in a similar situation? Felt shut out or felt guilty for getting in? What's your take?

funny, i always just assumed the carnival hosts were whittling down the submissions to an at least reasonable number! goes to show how much (or little) i know about the carnival thing. guess i could look into it some more.
personally, i'm fine with the whittling, even if it means i end up as a scrap on the floor.
