So this is what they meant by ADVANCED!
Now I know why the class is called ADVANCED feminist theory. I am reading the most amazing book right now. It's sort of an ontological inquiry into the concept of women as a category [sorta helps to remember 19th century concepts of "Woman"]. This woman-- Denise Riley's her name-- questions "women" now in the same vein. And how that concept has changed over time. It's not as stable as we tend to think: as in "oh, there were always women" (unlike as Foucault explained to us that we didn't always think of certain categories of people as "homosexual"). So it's really cool because it's something I never, ever encountered before. I will be absorbed in this for the next few days so y'all can content yourselves with that open thread for another day or two. Then I promise I have a post in the que called The Locus of Control: Prostitution as exploitation.
p.s. the book is called "Am I that name?"
