On creating a playground for sadists
"This bill is not a national security issue -- this is about torturing helpless human beings without any proof they are our enemies."
"I'd like those supporting this evil bill to spare me one affliction: Do not, please, pretend to be shocked by the consequences of this legislation. And do not pretend to be shocked when the world begins comparing us to the Nazis."
--Molly Ivins Why the Torture Bill Matters

But... but... the majority of the American public, when last polled, *like* this bill!
What that tells me about what America has become makes me sick to my stomach. America is Germany in 1932. That is the only conclusion I can come to.

Yeah, this is troubling. So many people just don't care. God, I hope the democrats win the Senate AND grow a fucking set and start turning this tide around.

Yep, this bill is very bad news. You have to give these people a trial but the administration can keep them in jail after the trial!? What the heck is the point of the trial then other than to be a dog and pony show?
